Wrapping up the JECELI Chicago January Seminar…

Posted on January 26, 2017

Today we engaged in powerful learning with Safiyah Jackson, the Director of Training from the McCormick Early Childhood Leadership Center. She provoked us to think about how many ways staff members can take on leadership roles, and how to set up quality change initiatives. An important part of our experiences with Safiyah included learning about and facing, head on, obstacles to change in order to identify solutions. The Jewish text background for this discussion was the passage in Exodus in which Moshe gains a deeper understanding of his, and others’, leadership roles (18:13-27). We also had entirely too much fun trying out a new game with solo cups, which required some (literal) juggling, much like P1100849leadership! It was a bit wrenching to separate again, but we remain connected through our community, and with the knowledge that we have another seminar coming up in March. Stay tuned!
